Children's Literature
Sixty years ago (1939) Robert Lawson wrote a delightful book called Ben and Me . In the book Mr. Lawson claimed that Ben Franklin's discoveries can really be attributed to a little mouse that Franklin befriended during some trying years in Philadelphia. The book not only paints a picture of Ben Franklin, but it also gives the reader some insights into Philadelphia life in colonial times. The Walt Disney film Ben and Me covers the first half of the book and is a nice follow-up after reading the story.
We are trying to organize a children's library to support our internet grant . We are trying to fill the library with books that in some way involve Philadelphia and the people who have made Philadelphia famous/great. What children's story books, Philadelphia resource books and articles would you add to such a library?
